Get to know Joe Arends
Joe Arends developed an early love of numbers and earned a degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Willmar Community College. He planned to become a certified public accountant, but before doing so, Joe decided to give banking a try.
Joe values the variety of his job, a job that can find him closing a real estate deal in the morning, negotiating an SBA loan in the afternoon, and helping a startup evaluate its financing options in the evening.
And while his customers’ industries vary, Joe advises them all to build a “three-legged stool of support” that includes three strong professionals: an accountant, a lawyer, and a banker who will tell you the truth, even when it’s not what you want to hear.
Joe is a member of Edina Rotary Club and serves on its board of directors. He is also a member of the Edina Chamber of Commerce and the Explore Edina Visitors Bureau, having recently served as board chair of both organizations. He is also a member of the recently created Economic Development Committee in Edina.
A resident of Bloomington, Joe has two adult daughters and a toddler grandson. He enjoys reading, boating, and playing golf, and while he doesn’t keep a bucket list, there are two courses he wouldn’t mind playing someday—Augusta and Pebble Beach.
